If you’re looking for relief for headache or migraine pain in Boise, Idaho, consider a visit to Ideal Spine Health Center. Our chiropractors have an excellent track record when it comes to eliminating the source of migraine and headaches.
That’s because headaches and migraines can be a direct result of misalignments in your neck – a particularly common problems in light of today’s technology, whether you’re living in Boise, Idaho, or elsewhere in the world. Misalignments can result from poor posture, accidents, injuries, or what’s being described today as “text neck” – the posture caused by looking down at your smartphone or hunching over a computer screen. These positions can play havoc with the normal curvature of your neck.
Research shows that corrective chiropractic care – which focuses on correcting misalignments in the spine – is an effective treatment for tension headaches and migraines.
In a clinical trial conducted at Macquarie University in Australia and published in the Journal of Manipulative Physiological Therapeutics in 2000, 72 percent of participants with migraines experienced either “substantial” or “noticeable” improvement after a period of chiropractic treatment.
The six-month study included 123 volunteers ages 10 to 70, who were divided into two groups. The control group numbered 40 people. The treatment group, which included 83 participants, received two months of spinal manipulative therapy. Data was collected before and after treatment. Participants kept standard headache diaries throughout the trial.
On average, the treatment group had been having migraines for 18 years. Compared with the control group, they showed statistically significant improvement in several areas: migraine frequency, duration, disability, and use of medication. For 22 percent of the participants, the reduction in migraines topped 90 percent. An additional 50 percent reported significant improvement in the morbidity of each episode.
Corrective chiropractic care works because it corrects the spinal misalignments, which can exert excessive pressure on the nerves flowing through the spine. Those nerves are the body’s communications system, sending nerve energy from the brain throughout the rest of your body. Spinal misalignments cause “nerve interference,” interrupting the flow of messages being sent from the brain.
