Boise Eagle Idaho Chiropractor Pregnancy Pain Webster

Pregnancy can be tough on a woman’s body, whether you live in Boise, Idaho, or on the East or West coast. Studies indicate that about half of mothers will experience lower-back pain as the baby grows and presses on the mother’s back, legs and buttocks, often irritating her sciatic nerve.

However, a recent study indicates that chiropractic care can help women suffering from back pain during pregnancy. The study, “Outcomes of pregnant patients with low back pain undergoing chiropractic treatment” was published in the journal Chiropractic and Manual Therapies in April 2014.

Researchers recruited 115 pregnant women who were:

  1. Experiencing pain in their back or pelvic region
  2. Had not received chiropractic care for the previous three months

Chiropractic care was provided and data collected at one week, one month, three months, six months, and one year past the initial chiropractic visit to determine whether the women noticed any improvement in their back pain.

As it happens, the level of improvement increased as the study continued. One week into the chiropractic treatment, 52 percent of the women reported improvement. That rose to 70 percent at one month, 85 percent at three months and 90 percent at six months. One year after the initial treatment, 88 percent reported positive effects.

Chiropractic is important because your health and that of your baby depend on a body and nervous system that are functioning at optimal levels. The weight and stresses on a mother’s body can lead to a misaligned spine or a misaligned pelvis. When that happens, it puts pressure on the delicate nerves sending signals from the brain to the rest of your body, potentially blocking some of the messages being sent.

Most pregnant women – especially those with misaligned spines – report feeling daily bouts with fatigue, digestive issues, urinary issues – which cannot be good for mom or baby.

The solution is to realign the spine or pelvis back to health through Chiropractic BioPhysics, or CBP, one of the most researched, published, results-oriented and scientific corrective set of chiropractic techniques in the world.
