Have you been experiencing back pain lately and you’re unsure of the cause? It can be common to experience back pain from our everyday routine, from working to sleeping. Here at Ideal Spine Health Center, we want to help educate you on the causes of back pain and give you some helpful tips to eliminate it.

Suffering From Stress

Just like physical stress, emotional stress can take a toll on your back. Stress triggers a stress hormone known as Cortisol. When this hormone is released, it can cause back pain and tension of the shoulder muscles. To ease stress and feel better, mood elevators such as meditation, deep breathing, and exercise will help. Relaxing your mind often ultimately leads to your body’s relaxation too.

Check Your Sleeping Habits

Many people aren’t aware that sleeping on your stomach can cause back discomfort. Lying on your stomach puts great pressure on muscles and joints for long periods of time. Sleeping on your side or back allows your spine to remain neutral and elongated. Don’t forget to check your mattress. Some may be too soft and other too firm; both result in a sore back and joints.

Sitting and Slumping At Work

At your 9 to 5 job, you may feel glued to your desk. This puts stress on your back and is a common contribution to bad posture. There are ways to counteract this sitting slump, get moving during the day. Check your posture and correct it every time you start to slump. It can be helpful to set an alarm to remind you to either check your posture or get up and walk around. Use your lunch break as a time to go for a walk and get your blood flowing. Lack of movement over any length of time can be very detrimental, and that is why it is crucial to spine health to get out of your desk chair.

Weak Core

A weak core often results in back problems. Your core is a major source of stability for the back. It is essential in all movements of your body, and if your core is weak, minor movements can hinder your spine. To increase your core’s strength, adjust your workout routine to include lunges and planks which both target many muscle groups that support the spine.

Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP) is a highly-advanced, scientific, and proven chiropractic technique which corrects and restores your spine back to alignment. Both your diagnosis and treatment will be based on scientific and chiropractic principles.

At Ideal Spine Health Center, we can treat your spinal misalignments with CBP by rehabilitating and strengthening the structure of your spine through corrective chiropractic care.
